Team History

It all started as Petty Enterprises in July 2008 which was founded by Petty_Ent_45. The team mainly consisted of Petty_Ent_45, Petty_Ent_143, Petty_Ent_lfare, and later in the season, Petty_Ent_JB. The team had it's successes and disappointments of the first season. The biggest shock to the team was the banning of Petty_Ent_143 from ILOC, about the same time JB joined the team. Petty_45 went on to win a record 8 races and 15 top 5's, he still holds the record for most wins, all-time and single season, and top 5's, all-time and single season. JB also won a race at Dover which many had called a fluke, but was a hard earned win all the same. Petty_45 would later go on to win the first ILOC championship.

During the off season there were huge changes made to the team. lfare would not return to the team, and in his place would come BMM248 who found out he would not return to KBM about one week before the final race. But the biggest surprise was that team owner Petty_45 would make the move to Downs_Racing, leaving the team in the hands of JB. DFK_nascar24 would also join the team. The team would later be re-named Burnette-Murphy Racing (BMR).

The team struggled during the first half of the season, although BMM finished second in the season opener crashing across the finish line second. Team Owner JB could not make the first 4 races of the season, while DFK and BMM struggled to run consistently after the first race of the season. After the teams major disappointment at Bristol with all three team mates finishing in the last 3 positions, team owner JB organized a team test schedule and the finishes started to improve. In the mid point of the season Death_Planner joined the team for the remaining few races. The team went win less in the Nationwide season but BMM finished a strong 2nd in the points, starting all races. JB and DFK also had several strong runs most notably at California and ORP.

During the off season BMR picked up two drivers to fill the seats left vacant to DFK and Death_Planner (both moving to KBM), DiggingDeep and XR-44 who both made a start in the last race of the Nationwide Season. Sufan also joined the team for a very limited art time schedule. Team ownership would now be somewhat shared but BMR's two main drivers JB and BMM.

The team currently has been strong for the main 2009 season. With a slightly shaky start with controversy at Daytona, only half the team starting at Michigan, and all drivers but DigginDeep crashed at Atlanta. Then the team got on a roll. Before the Bristol race DigginDeep decided to leave the team for KBM. BMM and JB nearly dominated the entire Bristol race with JB leading 160 laps in route to winning and BMM leading 75 of 375 laps. BMR put on a nice string of top 5's with at least one driver finishing in the top 5. Thunderstruck would join the team with several strong runs. BMM won his first race at Martinsville after a thrilling battle with JB, and then won Daytona after powering past Mjs with help from JB on the second to last lap. After a strong run at Bristol the first time, BMR is looking at another great win for BMR.

Today it was announced by Burnette-Murphy Racing officials the DiggingDeepRcn20 will join the team for the remainder of the 2009 Sprint Cup team and possibly for any future ILOC Series events. It is rumored that DiggingDeepRcn20 will run the #55 NAPA car for the remainder of the season. But it does come with a cost though, driver of the #99 XR-44 has been replaced by DiggingDeep, and has been told he was free to look for a new ride for the remainder of the season and beyond earlier in the day. "We are very happy to have DiggingDeep on our team again, it was just a move that made sense for us, we want guys that can be competitive and run up front." Said Brandon Murphy, co-owner of BMR, he also comented on the release of XR-44. "We had fairly high expectations for him but he never lived up to it, with contaversey surrounding him at races like the All-star and Pocono, and it's ot a decision we wanted to make, but it had to be done." Josh Burnette was not avalible for comment at the time of press release.

Since the ILOC website is having some problems, I'll post it here.

BMR unveils two special paint schemes for 2010 Today at the BMR shop, the #39 team unveiled two special paint schemes to be on the car for a couple races in 2010. The Vancouver Olympics/Paralympics game will ride on the car for both the Budweiser shootout and Daytona 500. The Gran Turismo 5 car has yet to have a specific race to be run. Currently a Playstation 3 paint scheme is being worked on, and will supposedly run 3-4 races with the #39. A main Gamestop scheme has yet to be determined.
