I am learning to use GIMP, it is more complicated then pdn, but in the end better. If your struggling with pdn don't switch, GIMP is more confusing, so fellow artists join me as I learn GIMP, if somone expierenced with GIMP could help that would help.
I currently use GIMP 2.4, not the lasted version

I find GIMP only useful for flames and bases with a lot of curves, then you just copy it into PDN and do the logos.
You can't convert .DDS in GIMP. Well I think so..
